In hot forging, the heated billet is extruded into a near finished product in a fixed mold. This process can produce a large number of irregularly shaped solid metal components made of aluminum alloy, copper alloy, steel, or superalloys with good mechanical properties.

The key to improving forging productivity lies in the quality of the mold: it must have good resistance to thermal wear, thermal strength, as well as high ductility and toughness.

In actual mold production, the working conditions are complex, and recommended materials need to be combined with the actual situation.

The following is a comparison table of commonly used hot forging die materials in various countries (including material chemical composition).
